Frequently Asked Questions

A Debt Management Plan is, quite simply, a carefully thought-out arrangement between you and your creditors. It aims to make the repayment process less stressful for both parties. Usually, an individual will opt for a Debt Management Plan if they need to make smaller payments or are able to make repayments but only after a certain period of time. We can assist you in arranging a suitable plan with your creditors, making the whole process a lot smoother.

A Trust Deed is a very effective debt solution, although it is currently only available in Scotland. If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland you may wish to read up on Individual Voluntary Arrangements which are a good alternative. Trust Deeds, however, require an individual to agree to monthly repayments over a set period of time. This time can be anything up to four years and once the four years is over, any remaining debts are written off.

A Minimal Asset Process (MAP) is a tailored and specialist Scottish debt solution. It is specifically designed for individuals who have a minimal amount of assets and no disposable income to use towards their debt repayments. A Minimal Asset Process takes on a similar form to claiming bankruptcy but it is much more straightforward and doesn’t require you to appear in court. Your creditors cannot chase you once your MAP is approved.
